To carve the neck, I clamp the blank to this fixture. It gives me full access to the back of the neck and heel. I simply move the clamp to the heel if I'm working on the neck, or place it as shown in the pictures if I'm working on the heel. It is a simple fixture made from a length of 2x6 lumber. I attached a few little rubber pads to protect the fingerboard. The pads are nothing more than strips of weatherstripping.
